I am a single mother of 53 with a 13 year old.  I have no job, no home, no transportation, am living with my parents, and having to deal with an out of control teen.  I need help, but no-one has any way to do it.  I am trying to get back on my feet, but all I get it the runaround, statements such as, "sorry, I can't help you," or "I don't know what to do for you, try ___________.  They might help you."  When I try for emploment.  I am always asked if I have reliable transportation and being hosest, I say no.  They reply, "I'm sorry, I need someone I can depend on."  Nevermind the fact that I am a good worker willing to do what I must to get the job done.  I'm tired of this merry-go-round I'm on.  It never ends.  Please, help me become a model citizen for others to follow.

Dear Judith,
You might ask your local DHS office to help pay for your eye exam and glasses. I am needing help with roof repairs but can not find any info on that.
I was told that the government helps with this but no one knows who to contact in my town in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. I hope anyone who reads this can help me. I am disabled also.

I have no idea where to turn to. My daughter and her husband were married in June 2011. They had just purchased their first home which was a foreclosure. It needed a lot of work but they were ready for the task. They had both been employed for a number of years and Felt secure in their jobs. The kitchen in the house was pretty bad so they decided to take money they saved and to make the kitchen nicer. They found a contractor who gave them a bid of $3500. They had the money saved and figured the kitchen would add the most value to the home so they would start there. The contractor told them to tear out their existing kitchen and that would save on the cost. He required 1/2 down and said it would take three weeks to get the cabinets and then it would take about two days to install. It all sounded legit. About a week before he was suppose to bring the cabinets the contractor called to make sure the demolition was done. It hadn't been so my son in law gathered some of his friends and they worked for two days tearing out the kitchen completely. Low and behold the day came when the contractor was suppose to be there with the cabinets and he never showed. After several calls and months gone by we have determined he took off with their money. Now my daughter is living I. A house with no kitchen. The stove was old and built into the cabinets so the only way she can cook is to use a microwave that sits on her dining table. There isn't a sink anymore so she has to wash any dishes used in the bathtub. They still have a refrigerator so that is helping to store the dry food as well. The other food has to be stored in the bedroom. Glasses and the pots and pans they had are stored in the bedroom as well. To make matters worse, my daughter was layed off from work. Now the money they did have left is being used just to pay the bills and eat. Restoring their kitchen is not a possibility now. My husband was layed off for two years and we are trying our best to recover and don't have the resources to help them. To make matters worse my daughter called my husband in a panic last week. Her toilet was overflowing and dirty water was coming up in the bathtub. My husband ran over and said the main sewage Poe was clogged. They didn't have any money so my husband called a plumber who agreed to snake the pipe for $125.00. He came out and said the problem was being caused by tree roots in the pipe. He was ale to get the clog taken care of but told them the main sewage pipe had to be replaced ASAP because the fix was only temporary. The cost to replace the pipe would be abut $2500.00. Well the plumber was right, it was a temporary fix. The drains clogged again and now my daughter has toilet paper coming out of a pipe in front of the house. I'm afraid the city is going to determine her living conditions a health hazard and make her leave the house but she will obviously still be responsible for the house payment. If you have any suggestions where we can get help without being thrown out on the streets we are open to suggestions.

I love the apt complex I live in!  The rent increased, so I thought I'd buy a mobile home.

The realtor who sold it to me and the resident manager of the park committed fraud.

I have a trust account, I'm bipolar. It's a senior park 55+.  I was only 50 when I was approved.

I asked the manager why I was approved, she said, because I have special needs.

the realtor told the manager I may end up in wheelchair!

The manager counted my credit card as part of my income!

I have one more months rent for my apt in my trust and none left for the space rent!

Space rent is due feb 1.

Well here you go, our gov't in action.  Thank heavens for city hall, if it weren't for them and God, I would be looking to move!

Contact your local city hall to see what they can do for you!

God bless!

I think something should be done about the fact low income or lack of insurance A person cannot get dental care. Our teeth are part of the body and should be under medical as if you have infection it can effect the whole body.Everyone acts as if teeth are separate from the rest of our human shell that having broken deseased teeth and gums wont cause infection anywhere else.Costing more medical dollars.Im tired of being treated worse than an animal. What is it all for? No human compassion left. Just the all mighty $

Jill was going to write an open letter to the same ones you wrote too but I could not say it any better then you did. We by we I mean the people that need help and can't get it. I don't know how old you are but I'm 60yrs old and have worked all my life sence I was 14yrs old washing dishes paid my dues and now am left out in the cold cause the ones that care really don't, we are just numbers to them. They say unemployment is down well of course it is people are tired of getting the run around from the unemployment office when they try to draw unemployment for all the yrs they have worked and paid taxes they are told oh you need this and you need that people are tired of hearing that I, know I am. Never in my life did I think that I would see this world so messed up as it is. Not saiding it's all the President fault cause it was messed up before he ever took over this country.I just thought it would get better and it hasn't.Hope your days go better then mine has been going.

Hello,

I have a wife and 2 children, and we live in Bowie, MD., my Dad just died and we are being evicted out of the house that my mother has been foreclosed upon by Bank of America, we have made several attempts and offers to the bank to somehow make things right so I can keep a roof over my kids head, they told my Mom that she was eligible for a loan modification, and in the process of acquiring the modification the bank continued with the eviction, and now they claim "it's too late, and we have to get out". My kids go to Bowie high school, and they make good grades, we have nowhere to go and this is totally devastating and ripping my family apart. The bank has now taken the property back and had an appraiser to value the house at 276000, they have scheduled an eviction for this week and we need emergency assistance to move into another house right now I guess, unless someone can help or intervene and save us from getting evicted, and work something out so we won't have to move. If that doesn't work out I am asking for help to immediately move into another house in the Bowie area so my kids will not miss school and run the risk of failing. I have a job, but according to Bank of America they will not give me a mortgage loan do to my credit score. All I am asking for is a chance to stay in the house that we live in and not be evicted, or obtain some type of emergency assistance to move into a sizable enough property to accomodate all of our things that we have worked so hard over the years to get. I work very hard, and I'm not one to ask for a handout but I have found myself in a situation that I could not have ever imagined that has me extremely worried about the future well being of my family. I can't hardly keep food in the refrigerator, let alone to even think about trying to survive after being "put on the street" with a family. I do not deserve this, and neither does my family, so if anyone can help me, please give me a call at 562-712-1001.

Thank you, LE

I am trying to hold this family together but I'm only one small person. Please hear my cries for help??! My kids need winter coats and clothes as I can't afford it. I tried to take on a second job but, my disabled son is sick quite often and doesn't allow me to be far from him. We will be homeless if we don't get help soon! My daughter suffers from a very painful chronic condition.  In addition to her own pain, she must care for her dying husband around the clock.  He is not expected to live.  The chores necessary for his care, the care of their 12 year old son, as well as her own chronic condition keep her in constant severe arthritic pain.

A week ago her physician wrote her refill prescriptions for medication for her chronic pain.

We took the prescriptions to the pharmacy (a 64 mile drive) that afternoon.  We were told that neither drug was available.  The only reason we were given was that "the manufacturer is not shipping them".

We then contacted the only other pharmacy within driving distance and were told that they also had neither drug in stock.  The pharmacist told me that she had ordered them but the order was returned marked that the quota had been met for the month!  She would not be able to get a new supply for at least two weeks!

My daughter's phsycian informed her that one of the drugs must NOT be suddenly stopped - that stopping it requires a two-week taper.  But we cannot get the drug!  A week later she is in misery.

After much research I have learned that the DEA is applying quotas on the drugs which were prescribed for my daughter.  Because they have limited the amount of drugs that a pharmaceutical company can supply, my daughter has suffered days of agony!  She is in tears, unable to function and unable to provide care for her dying husband.  She told me she would "welcome death".  This happened on a previous occasion when her doctor changed her pain medication to Fentanyl.  At that time Fentanyl was unavailable because of the "quotas" .  Consequently, my daughter went into acute withdrawal and was hospitalized with kidney failure.  Medi-Cal had to pay for her emergency room treatment and subsequent hospitalization.

What is the effect of these quotas on Methadone Clinics where heroin addicts receive the drug in an attempt to fight their addiction?  If a heroin addict cannot get the Methadone, it is certain that he/she will revert to the original drug of choice and will get it by any means possible - including criminal activity!  The addicts will find their drugs, just as outlaws will find guns if guns are outlawed!

What are these quotas supposed to accomplish?  This is surely causing unnecessary suffering to cancer victims!  Children!  Terminally ill patients!

Would you allow this to happen to a member of your own family?

Hello. I'm writing to ask for help for the first time in my life. I have had a really hard life but worked as much as possible in this poor economy, now I can't work due to back problems from an injury while working.

The girl ive been with for 7 years works but isnt enough to pay all of the bills while i stay at home with our new 8 month old son. We purchased a home that looked liveable, put 8,000 dollars into it because further inspection, noticed that the whole frame was rotted and there is mold everywhere. We are tapped out of funds and our son came a month early before i could finish rebuilding the home the best i could, barely sleeping nor eating. This was all covered up when we moved in (hidden). we have no family and the neighborhood is nowhere to raise a child. people get murdered and the drug traffic is horrible. So we have nobody to turn to for help. we have lived in a tent 3 times in our lives due to jobloss. now that we have a son, im trying to keep us from living on the streets again. I can go on and on with all the pain and suffering we have been through and still are going through but i dont feel its neccesary. Im asking for some kind of help. We are in desperate need of a break in life and hope that you can help us. We recently got on our feet but then it all got taken from us when we lost our car to an accident. We dont hand with people because we lost our faith in them due to constant theft or drama. my main goal is to take care of my family and thats why im writing you right now. Please help me so i can make a better life for my family and suround them with better people and opportunities.

Is it legal

Is it legal for any Government branch, be it Federal, State or Local. To keep any body, citizen or not, from presenting legal evidence to a Judge. Evidence that has already been (wha-deered) checked out.

As in big business (private sector) a lot of these companies know the longer they can drag out these cases against them, the better their chance of it going away. Cheaper lawyers fees than a settlement, some times a settlement is cheaper that a Judges Decision.

Now for a Government branch to use an Insurance Co. in the private sector against a citizen of that Government branch, a property owner, a tax payer of that branch. Whose taxes help pay for that Insurance Co. To keep that citizen from presenting any of his evidence to a Judge. Primarily because every charge of action has been proven in his evidence’s wha-deering. Let me introduce you to a couple of legal terms “ Third party complaint” & “Litigation”

These type of actions make it impossible for a poor person to get any kind of justice. And NO that CPL “As a Poor Person”  is meant only for those who are already in jail.

Perhaps you believe that I haven’t a clue of what I am talking about, just keep in mind though every City, Town or Village in this country has to have some kind of Insurance. How do you think they handle any or all of their complaints?

To Whom it may concern:

I want to thank President Obama for the 2012 increase to Social Security. I have been disabled since 2005 due to a condition which affects all of the collegen in my body. It is called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. I have frequant joint dislocations and severe nerve damage throughout my body since collegen is in everything including bones, teeth, skin, muscles and so on.

I have worked as many as three jobs at a time to raise my daughter and my husband of 8 years who also raised his son alone did the same. When my condition worsed he picked up the pace to take care of all of us and his depression worsened. He suffered a few heart attacks and just recently at 45 had a double bipass. Obviously he is unable to work now as well. Prior to losing our home a few years ago we had a fire in the garage and he lost all of his tools which is devistating for a machanic. This too added to his depression.

I was excited to hear that we would be getting an increase because we are both living off of my Soc. Sec. Disability payments. I want you to know that the State of Michigan has taken them away from me because my income is a bit higher so they are no longer helping me pay for my Medicare premiums. In all I am now getting close to $75 less each month.

My rent is $600 per month, both of our phones are about $80 per month, My car and rental insurance is $$90 per month, and I am falling behind on rent, utilities, medical bills and everything in between. We worked hard the first part of our lives thinking that we would be taken care of if we got sick and now we are slapped in the face by our governent that should be helping us. We don't need extras. we live without cable, internet, and going out for date nights. Heck we can't even afford to rent a movie for the night.

Like others our teeth are in bad shape, i have doctors that will no longer see me because i owe them money and i cant afford to havet the surgery on my feet that I desperately need. Who is going to help us?

I would like to ask that some sort of financial assistant be offered to us parents that homeschool their children. Ifeel that is should be a choice if we want to school our own kids. I'm not knocking public school. I have a 14 and 16 year old that have always atttended a public school and they are very high acheivers they make good grades and are acedemically recognized.

I went to work substitute teaching during their elementary and middle school years, which kept them close by and I stayed involved with every aspect. Now I homeschool my 5 year old and my 2 year old is learning right along with us and WE LOVE IT!I love being able to teach my son and be there to see and experience all of it with him.

Our finances are bad and we live day to day barely making ends meat. It is hard to get a job and homeschool and keep up mom work-cooking, cleaning, laundry, baths, cooking, boo boos, older kids school activities. I know some would say "just send him to school and get a job", but you're not in my shoes. I know one day I WILL look back and say it was worth every penny we DIDN'T HAVE to be able to experience this educational experience with my child.

So, I ask you to continue to support homeschooling and virtual schooling. And I ask that a bill be considered to be passed to give us parents some sort of income to supplement our needs.

Thank you so much!!!      Cathi Jenkins

Hello I am taking a chance not truly knowing if this website is ficticious or for real...To be honest I am writing for a friend that is loosing his house..He has gone on every interview in the world after getting laid off from a great job and decided he can go through a quick course for nursing... Graduated from the worst private nursing school in the state of nj and had nightmares of how corrupt the school was...He has an autistic daughter and a brother that is just lying in a hospital bed with end stages of MS...He is a medical student who never got to achieve his goal because he is that crippled at 42 years of age...His wife had breast disease for all of the summer months which put them way behind...He even had stopped his diabetes medication to put food on the table.....He doesnt have any family to help but I have met him through nursing school and became a very good friend of the family....He has no experience in the field so we can not find work that easy thinking it was the right thing to go back to school and have a nice career in the health field....Now he is at rock bottom.  Heat has been shut off several times---foreclosure letter came-----water letter came saying his house will go for a state sale...And his wife works but it does not make ends meet and they deserve food and some assistance at least for there 8 year old child....I know everybody seems to struggle but its those that I see get assistance and are not in need of it... I don't know how to direct a friend to get help... Can someone tell me where he can get some donations please!!!!

To the elected officials of the United States and the Commonwealth of Virginia:

There are millions of people in desperate need in America which Congress and the current administration has failed to assist.  After seeing the Washington Post article on the net worth of Congress, it is no wonder you do not understand the plight of the common people.  Most of you are multi-millionaires.  The average salary of the United States citizen is approximately $42,000.00  Because of your failures to allow regulators to investigate banks and other financial institutions, failure to adequately support defense of our borders and let the invasion of illegal immigrants continue, failure to control out of control housing markets, $42,000 is now barely enough to live on in the populated centers of America.  These failures over time have led to the necissity of double incomes and the deterioration of the American family.  You are supposed to represent the people.  You are supposed to be for the people and from the people.  The people are worse off because of the inactions of politicians of all parties.  There was a time when the politicians led the people.  Now, you politicians only show favor of the people during an election year.

I wouldf like to see the Virginia delegation and yes that includes the super rich Mark Warner to lead an effort to make Congress work.  The writer of the Declaration of Independence, the first president, the historic battles that shaped this nation all happened in Virginia.  Rise up to those standards and lead us out of this dismal quagmire of a nation into one that was promised, existed, and can still be.

I am writing to you about a matter that is of great significance in the United States but is not greatly appreciated.  The matter is the lack of dental care in the United States.  Without appropriate care and without access to dentists people are suffering, mentally, emotionally, socially, physically and spiritually.

There are people in the hiring lines and even people that are employed that are suffering due to lack of adequate care or no care.  You may tell yourself that you are so evolved that you would hire someone with an obvious need for dental care.  You may tell yourself that you would have sympathy for someone that you work with or that you employ that suffers from inadequate care or care that was inappropriate and that caused harm to the person.  However, I dare you to even admit to me that you have done so.

In addition to the fact that there is inadequate care or no care dentists are one of the most unregulated group amongst the "medical," profession.  To try a dental malpractice lawsuit costs on the average of $80,000.  The average recovery is $30,000.  In their case, for the vast majority, there is no honor amongst theives.  There is a movement towards having dentistry become a specialty in the medical schools, i.e. periodontal medicine.  And this is as it should be since an unhealthy mouth can cause so many other health issues.  Additionally, they should be held to the same standards as are medical doctors.

I personally know what it was like to have my mouth, my facial nerves, my ability to eat and speak, my life and my finances destroyed by a handful of dentists.  I put myself through a BA in Economics, an MBA and a JD and have a law license.  I ended up in excrutriating pain, can barely eat, have difficulty talking and my problems are yet resolved. And people start to shun you as though you have become mentally ill until perhaps you find one of the  honest dentists about whom I speak.  An honest dentist will set you free from being blamed about being a malcontent even though they may not be able to help you. Oh and yes these were reputable dentists that caused the damage and then so carefully covered up their malpractice.  So you see, you are all educated, but don't ever think that it won't happen to you or one of your family members.  Next time you see an unemployed person standing with so many of the unemployed looking for a job and they have obvious dental issues, I dare you to hire them and set them free..........I dare you.

Desperately need new roof, new place to live, HELP! I'm freezing cold, and disabled, can't walk or stand well. Need money, need teeth, need hot water, need a stove, a warm house.

I am starving, very poor, house has much damage, I'm cold, lack resources, need new roof very badly, house is collapsing, need yard work. I'm alone in the world, wish I had family and lots of money. I have very bad teeth, I only have 18 teeth left, it's hard to chew, need dental work, can't afford it. I'm disabled, unable to work. Help!  Need lots of money, so poor, so broke.

I need dentures really bad. I need partial lowers and lots of work done on my upper teeth. I am in Los Angeles, I have only 11 bottom teeth and 7 teeth on top. Eating is so difficult and I am miserable with these bad teeth.  Can't get a job with such lousy teeth and inability to eat. Food rots because I can't eat it. I have been to dental schools and they won't do anything, they just want to pull out all my teeth. I have a lot of bone loss too. I need money and teeth. HELP!

The united states needs to withdraw troops from all foreign countries, Cut the military budget drastically

and stop playing "policeman to the world"

Use the savings from this to establish a truly universal health plan. It is a shame that a nation as

large and powerful as ours has no national health plan and yet, spends billions on unnecessary wars!!!

I have heard from countless people over the years regarding dental issues and the governments lack of help. The government will assist with medical issues for those with little or no money, but when it comes to dental care, it becomes a different story. What can we do? Petition for change! I have created a petition for change which will be submitted to various local government representatives once we achieve a respectable number of supporters. The government is willing to help those with health related issues, but not dental - why? Bad dental will turn to bad health so why not stop the problem before it grows into something larger?
